Sun Moon Stars Rain

A self directed project: a wall hanging with a personalised approach with running themes of spring, gardening and nature, illustrating elements that are sentimental and personal to the recipient.

The layout was a stylistic choice echoing that of graphic novels, capturing a narrative through thematically similar imagery. It was also a guide, setting myself parameters in which to create.

With a restricted panel layout and a limited colour palette, I had to design within constraints and the project became a puzzle that I had to solve. I had all the elements that my recipient is interested in and had to fit them together as puzzle pieces to form a perfect composition; figuring out colours that represent my illustrations faithfully while also ensuring they don’t clash and are balanced throughout the piece. This was a fun challenge for me conceptually and illustratively.
